Kundapur, Sep 23: “Civic workers should not neglect their health. They should consult the doctors immediately when they fall sick. Bring your issues to the notice of municipal council administration that will always be with you. Everybody should respect the civic workers who collect waste from houses from morning till evening and keep the city clean”, said Kundapur municipal council president Veena Bhaskar. She was speaking after inaugurating the civic worker’s day programme held by Kundapur municipal council administration at Dr B R Ambedkar Bhavan.
Council standing committee president Girish Devadiga said that the problems of civic workers are being solved in stages. The employees will be made permanent and site title deeds will be issued to their families, he said.
Council vice president Sandeep Kharvi spoke in the programme. Council chief executive said the education of the children of civic workers is being given priority so that they may decorate high positions. “Some of their children are already pursuing higher education,” he said.
Gauri, Shanti, Vasanti, Pramila, Gauri, Saroja and Gulabi whose husbands had passed away after working in the council were felicitated. Former employees Sathish, Balakrishna, Denis Gotha, Chandrashekar, employees of trash disposal unit Dyvamma, Ravi, Siddartha, Prashanth, Gururaj and Krishna were felicitated.
Senior civic worker Ganesh was present. Council members Chandrashekar Kharvi, Laxmi Bai, Prabhavati Shetty, former president Vasanti Mohan Saranga and former vice president Rajesh Kaveri spoke about the civic workers day.
Senior health inspector Raghavendra welcomed. Environment engineer Guruprasad gave an introduction. Gopalakrishna Shetty rendered the vote of thanks. Ganesh Jannadi compered the programme.
