Sullia, Apr 25: For the convenience of the devotees of Lord Subrahmanyeshwara Temple in Subrahmanya in the taluk spread all over the country, the facility of online reservation for the ‘Sarpa Samkara’ service has begun. The devotees can book for this service in advance, by accessing the website of the temple, www.kukke.org, said temple administrative officer, Dr Harish Kumar.
Ashlesha Bali and Sarpa Samskara, being offered specifically at Subrahmanya Temple for warding off Sarpa Dosha and sins committed through violent handling or killing of snakes, purposeful or inadvertent, are popular with the devotees. The number of devotees seeking to perform this service has been increasing steadily at this temple. Those who visit the temple town to offer this service need to spend a number of days before their turn comes after booking for the same. Realizing this problem, the temple has made arrangements for online booking of the service.
The devotees need to remit charges amounting to Rs 2,500 for Sarpa Samkara service. The practice of booking for this service by way of sending demand drafts is already in vogue. Since April 1 this year, Sarpa Samskara is being held at the spacious Yaga Shale, recently built under the first phase of the master plan to develop the temple at a cost of Rs 180 crore.
