Shimoga, Apr 25: Meena (14), daughter of Elamalai, resident of Tunganagar village near here, died in the government Mcgann Hospital in the town on Sunday April 24. She had tried to commit suicide by putting herself on fire, having been unable to bear nagging abdominal pain.

The girl, who had poured kerosene on herself before torching herself, was admitted into the hospital on Saturday afternoon. In the incident, she had suffered extensive burns.

The family said that Meena was frustrated over the recurring abdominal pain, which failed to recede even after treatments. A case was registered in Tunganagar police station. Investigation is on.
