Bishop Patrick Paul D’Souza, Bishop Emeritus of Varanasi Diocese, passed away this morning at 9.45 a.m.
The funeral is planned for 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2014.
Bishop Patrick D’Souza was born on 28 April 1928, and was ordained a priest on 20 December 1953. He was ordained bishop in 1970. Besides heading the Diocese of Varanasi as its bishop, he served the Church in India in several capacities. He was the Chairman for the CBCI Commission for Social Communications, and has been instrumental in the founding of the National Institute of Social Communications, Research and Training (NISCORT).
