Sr Maria Savitha AC (63), member of the Apostolic Carmel, Karnataka Province, passed away on November 30, 2016 in St Mary’s Convent, Falnir, Mangalore.

She hails from Belman, daughter of the late Albert D’Souza and the late Severine Castelino, sister of Lawrence D’Souza, Mumbai.

Mortal remains will be brought to St Mary’s Convent, Falnir, Mangalore at 1.00 pm on Friday, December 2. Funeral Mass at 3.30 pm, followed by burial at Milagres Church, Mangalore.

Sister Maria Savitha was my teacher at St Cecily's convent school . Saddens me greatly to read of this. She was the most jolliest of them all, she must have just returned from Kenya in 2015. She would take tiny breaks in between her social science lessons to tell us her life stories of what happened in Kenya during her time there and our class of 45 students back in the day enjoyed these the most . I will always keep you in my prayers dear sister and may your soul rest in peace.

Very sad to know that Sr Maria Savitha is no more. I knew her since 2005 when she was the Superior of St Cecily's Udupi. Very simple and a loving person. Whenever I visited her in the hospital I could see (amidst the pain) a broad smile on her face. My heart felt Condolences to ALL Sisters of the Congregation and the family members. May her soul rest in Peace.

Sr.Maria Savitha AC was a gift to all of us specially to her community, relatives and most importantly St.Mary's Ward of Milagres Church during the last few years since she was in St.Mary's convent . Sister was very active and would actively participate in the monthly meetings of our ward till she fell ill a few months back. The ward members would feel her absence very much and the help she would provide in conducting the meetings. She was a source of guidance and support to all the ward members specially children and we loved her presence in the ward meetings. She would be concerned about all the ward members and inquire about their well being. Our condolences to her brother and his family and also the Sisters of the St Mary's Convent, Falnir. May her soul rest in peace.
