Fr Walter Albuquerque SJ (93), resident of St. Aloysius College Jesuit community passed away on Friday, October 7, 2016.

Popularly known as "Dhovi Kogul" (White Nightingale) his last funeral rites will be held at St Aloysius High School hall on Sunday, October 9, 2016.

Viewing at St. Aloysius college chapel from 2:30 pm onwards. Mass at 4:30 pm. Thereafter burial at Jeppu cemetery.

Fresh memories of Fr. Albuquerque from the time of my novitiate where he taught us music and lovely songs. Even now I sing some of those konkani songs. Very jovial and flexible and we enjoyed learning music and singing from father.The song konki amchi bas, konkan amcho gaon, konkan sharanth ami konke zaon asaun... cannot be forgotten.. May his music resound everywhere as he has reached the abode of God..

Thank you Daijiworld for relaying the Final Journey of my guru Rev. Fr. Walter Albuquerque. I felt as if I was there present in Mangalore for the ceremony along with others, though I am miles away.

It was a memorable ceremony. "Ave Maria" by the Sexaphonist along with Bab Joel on piano after communion was so soothing and consoling. Fr. Walter definitely must have enjoyed from heaven.

Long live Fr. Walter. You will always remain in our hearts so long as music lives in us.

I have known Father Walter from my childhood. A quiet, sedate good... a gifted man of God. During his lifetime he was indeed called a Kogul because of his singing and musical talent. He was a indeed a good composer of music and has several hymns and tunes as his record.

In the demise of Fr. walter the church has lost a doyen of spiritual music both in Konkani and english. His great voice still resonates in my years even after so many decades. Hardworking, dedicated and committed are the words that come to mind when I think of him. As many have said earlier, he and his memory will live for long through his compositions.I have no doubt that his reward will be great in heaven and that the heavenly choirs will welcome a talented musician in their ranks. Those hymns of Fr. Walter Albuquerque will continue to be heard in every church for years to come and will keep the memories of the man alive. Walter will remain for years in the memory of the church of Dakshina Kannada and through his hymns gratitude of praise through his hyman will be heard in heaven. Walter - you will continue to hear while there with God of the many compositions and hymns that you composed to sing His glory. Thank you.
