Fred D'Souza (69), Thakur Village, Mumbai (born at Amembal, Chelur, Bantwal), husband of Ida Coelho, Derebail and father of Jyothi and Sunita, brother of Victor, Henry, Maurice, Robert, Maxim, Sr. Merceline (Sisters of Charity), Irene and Leena, father in law of Desmond D'Cunha and Vinod Martis, grandfather of Darren, Jeslyn, Britney and Bianca passed away on November 9, 2015.

He worked as a coordinating Manager for Fr. Muller's Hospital Leper's rehabilitation centre initially and later worked with Swiss Emause Establishment Centre, Dharwad under the Leadership of Ms. Idy and Dr. Macadin who helped to cure the lepers and give a new life by training them with craft, carpentry etc..

He is a social worker who helped the downtrodden and poor and identified lepers in order to rehabilitate them.

The primary motive of their organisation was to eradicate leprosy in India.

Funeral cortège leaves residence on November 10, 2015 at 2:00 pm for Mass at Charkop cemetary, Malad West, Mumbai followed by burial.

Dear Ida, Jyothi and Sunitha, I personally do not know him, but very touched with his involvement with the unfortunate brethren. Truly he has obeyed the Lord's commandment "Love one another, as I have loved you" Pray that the Almighty Lord Jesus give you all strength, peace and comfort at this time. May his soul rest in peace.

Mr. Fred had a loving personality and always looked at others specially his cured Leprosy patients helped them by training & marketing their handmade tiny things, crafts textiles, Furniture,etc., All children in the family and others attracted by his gift of tales telling & Jokes. He is loving Brother in Law of Coelho Gerlad-Veronica, Joachim, Raphael-Hilda, Felcy-Victor,Edward-Juliana, Felix-Flavy & Wilfred- Jessy of Derebail. We are missing you Dear Feddy Boaji. Pray Almighty God to strengthen Ida and children to bear the bereavement...May his Soul Rest In Peace...

I don't know Fred, but want to say one thing: in my humble view, Fred is a dedicated man and a hero to society's most vulnerable, feared because of disease which robbed them of many limbs, and despised lepers. RIP
