Elizabeth Menezes (98), wife of the late Francis Menezes, mother of the late Celine, the late Paul, Irene, the late Gabriel, Sr Bridget (FSM), the late Charles, Sr Maria Roopa (AC), Rita and Sr Florine (UFS), 19 grandchildren & 23 great grandchildren passed away on September 14, 2015.

Funeral cortege leaves residence "Maria Nivas", Mahal Thota, for Our Lady of Loretto Church, Bantwal taluk on Wednesday, September 16 at 3.30 pm, followed by funeral Mass at 4.00 pm.

With the passing away of Elizabeth (Eliz)auntie, a whole generation of a branch of the Monteiro clan, mainly centred at Thodambil,Bantwal (Modankap)parish, has come to an end. the patriarch of that branch wasSenastian and his wife Magdeline (Monna) Monteiro, parents of my father, Hilary.My grandmother used to boast of giving birth to twelve children(having a large brood was a matter of pride in those days).In the era of high child mortality, only nine survived, eliz auntie being the fourth of them and she survived the rest of her siblings. she was a loving, lively, earthy and cheerful person, despite being a widow early on and having had to bring up nine children who have made her, and us, proud.She soldeired on with grit unto her last.
My salute, thanks and goodbye to the last sibling of my father and heart-felt condolences to her children and family members. She leaves behind memories which I cherish.- John Monteiro

My Dear Family Members, Maushi (my mother late Marcelline Moras' elder sister) the last surviving member from amongst our Uncles and Aunts has gone to her heavenly abode. She had a very eventful life and was alert and active till the end. My sincere condolences to all the family members and also I want to place on record my sincere appreciation to all of them for having looked after her with immense love and devotion.Over here I am reminded of the biblical verse "...I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." (2 Timothy 4:7). She has completed her earthly mission and has gone for her heavenly reward.

Maushi was truly a great support to my mother as both of them had become widows at a rather young age. She who looked exactly like my mother was a second mother to us. After my mother went to her heavenly abode in August 1989 meeting Maushi was like meeting my mother in person. Maushi we admire you and love you. May all of you Monteiro brothers and sisters have a great time in heaven!
