Flavian James Pereira (73), son of the late Roman Pereira and the late Theresa Pereira (nee Tauro) of Kuntal Kambla, Bajpe unexpectedly passed away while on a family cruise vacation in the Caribbean. Flavian was fondly known as Babuti by many of his family and friends.

He and his beloved wife Minette (nee Pinto) were happily married for 41 years and had moved to Canada shortly after their wedding in Mangalore in 1974.

He was the devoted father of David (Anuja), Jennifer (Rohit) and Monica (Sean) all living in Toronto. He was the proud grandfather of Benjamin (son of Monica and Sean) and Anaya (daughter of David and Anuja).

He was the loving brother of Harry (Matty) of Bajpe, Walter (Rita) of Toronto, Jessie (Stan) of Toronto and Merlyn (Joe) of Peterborough, Canada.

Funeral arrangements have not been finalized but details will be found at http://www.turnerporter.ca/memorials.html when available.

On behalf of my mom Minette, my sisters Jennifer and Monica and Dad's siblings Walty, Harry, Jessie and Merlyn and all our families, I would like to express our sincere gratitude for the heartfelt messages of support, mass offerings and prayers.

Dad's funeral was this past Monday and we were fortunate to have been blessed with a beautiful day as the back for Dad's final farewell.

It's been a difficult couple of weeks but the tremendous outpouring of support has been extremely helpful to us as we grieve. Thank you. - David Pereira

I knew Flavian (Babuti) in Bajpe right from high school days, all growing up together and then again back in St. Aloysius College, Mangalore while he was doing his B. Com and I was in B.Sc.

I have met him and his family so many times in Toronto and in Michigan on various occasions

He was very special - a great friend of our family, loved everyone, telling great jokes, laughed often. We are going to miss him.
