Mangaluru, May 19: Peter Gonsalves, the producer of 'Tisri Cheet', the first Konkani movie produced from Mangaluru, passed away on Tuesday May 19 evening after a brief illness.  He was 81.


Peter Gonsalves who was also a popular photographer shot into fame with the four important documentaries he did including the one on Gomateshwara and Jesuit priests. 

He was also the first one to bring a moving camera to Mangaluru. It was his love for Konkani that resulted in his producing the first Konkani movie in Mangaluru though it was released after 'Mog ani Maipas'.

Proprietor of Photo Centre, Milagres, Peter Gonsalves leaves behind his children Nelson/Presilla, Lavina/Henry, Paterson, Elvina /Joylus, Samson /Sonel, and grandchildren Hyden, Lyndon, Nethan, Ethan and Brandon. He was the husband of Sofia Gonsalves who was  a teacher in Gerosa High School and had passed away in 2003.  


Funeral cortege leaves residence 'Loy Vihar', 4th cross, Marnamikatta to Cascia Church on Wednesday May 20 at 3:30 pm. Mass at 4:00 pm.
