John Baptist Moraes (J B Moraes), Konkani Poet, aged 82 years, husband of Justin Matilda (Hilda), father of Merwyn / Gracy, Joseph / Audrey, Hector / Olivia, and Peter / Linda, grandfather of Rosha, Aysha, Alisha, Aaron, Adrian, Hershel, Denise and Trisha, passed away on December 30, 2014

Funeral will be held on January 2, 2015 at 11 am at the Our Lady of Perpetual Succour church, Chembur, Mumbai.

The condolence meeting to mour the sad demise 0f renowned Konkani Writer and Poet by Konkank Bhasha Mandal Maharashtra will be held at St. Jude Church Hall, Jerimeri,Kurla, Mumbai will be held on Sunday the 18th Januray 2015 at 3-30 pm and not on 28th January as published earlier. JB Moraes has been ailing for some time. We never expected his death so early. Konkani people are indebted to Shri Moraes for his invaluable contribution to the konkani literature. He was the pillar or Konkani Bhasha Mandal for a long time. It is difficult to fill the void. May his soul rest in peace. Konkani Bhasha Mandal Maharashtra is holding a condolence meeting on sunday the 28th January at 3 p.m. at Jerri Merri. All are invited. John DSilva, President.

Saddened to receive this news today. The Konkanni Somaj has lost its strong patron who devoted all of his life in serving and nurturing Konkann Mai with his multi-faceted literary talents. I myself benefited a lot from his advice and guidance since the time I met him at "Poinnari" in 1968. I pray that God will grant him a restful reward now, and give strength and comfort to his near and dear ones to accept God's will and get over the heavy loss.
