Patrick Eusebius Furtado, (48) Baikady, Brahmavar ( residing at Honavar)  Son of Late Elizabeth D’Almeida and John Furtado, husband of Renee Furtado, brother of Norbert / Stella, Sylvia / Dominic Pasanna, Gretta / Walter, Fr. Reginald Furtado OFM cap, Juliana / Walter, Michael / Shaila, Ronald / Juliana Shanthi, Son – In - Law of Veera and Richard Pinto - Kadri, Brother - In-Law of Glenn / Veena, Uncle of Deena / Brendon,  Delcy / Joylene, Clinton, Disha, Elisha, Arnold, Elton, Winston, Glenn, Roshel, Rynel, Ethan, Nicole, and Grand Uncle of Baby Evelyn Moras, passed away on Wednesday July 23, 2014.

Patrick Furtado, a social worker by profession and agriculturist by passion, served at Honnavar for the Diocese of Karwar from 1994 to date. During his tenure he was instrumental in the co-ordination of various programme for Bala Pragathi Kendra, construction of Prathibhodaya, skill training for rural youth at Haliyal and several other projects. 

His contribution to the social development works of the Religious Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of the Queen of the Apostles (SRA) has been immense. Closely associated with St Ignatius Institutions, his presence there made a remarkable difference leading to initiation of various humanitarian programmes. He was also the Managing Trustee of Muktha Trust, Honnavar. The trust has been carrying out welfare programmes for child labourers (Sadhana Residential School, Allanki), school dropouts, young farmers, science clubs in Honnavar of Uttara Kannada and Mundargi of Gadag districts.


Funeral cortege leaves residence “Hisson’s Kripa”, Baikady for Holy Family Church, Brahmavar on Sunday July 27, at 3.00 PM. Mass at 3.30.
