Fr Frank Mathias SJ (94) Mangalore Fr Frank Mathias was the younger of the two sons of John and Lily Mathias. He was born at Nasik. He was ordained a Jesuit on 3rd Dec. 1951. After teaching Physics at St Aloysius College in Mangalore for many years, Fr Frank retired in 1976 and had been residing at Fatima Retreat House since then. Fr Frank Mathias had the distinction of being the oldest surviving Jesuit priest in Mangalore. He passed away on Thursday December 26, 2013

Funeral on Saturday, 28th December, 2013 at 3.30 pm at Fatima Retreat House.

We have lost a friend, philosopher and guide in Fr Frank who was very dear to me in my growing years at Light House Hill. Always cheerful be at the confessional or anytime we will miss you dearly.

My dad met Fr. Henry on 20th November & left us on December 9th. Fr. Henry from what I have heard is a great & lively person. I have heard a lot about him from my dad. My dad & you are having a great conversation again in Heaven for sure.

My first confessor, a close friend of my family. I was fortunate to spend time with Fr Frank Mathias in October this year. He had a sharp memory even at this ripe age.May his soul rest in peace. My heartfelt condolences to the Superior and members of FRH and the Karnataka Jesuits.

Very sad to learn of Fr. Henry's death. If I remember rightly, he was my late brother Henry's classmate and before joining the Jesuit Order he and his parents lived in Balmatta where we were neighbors for a few of my earliest years. Fr. Henry's father and my father were colleagues at Fr. Muller's.
May God grant eternal rest to Fr. Henry and reward him for his long srvice to the Church and mankind.
