Martha D'Cunha-Coelho passed away peacefully on Monday the 11th of November, 2013.  She was 89 years old and spent the day before with her children Horace and Rita Coelho and Kevin and Judy Coelho.

The last decade was a tough 10 years as she suffered the effects of a devastating stroke that left her bedridden. This was a very painful ordeal for a woman who was always on the go.

The family is very grateful to the doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and auxiliary staff at The Cardinal Ambrozic Houses of Providence, Toronto and we cannot thank them enough for the tender, loving care lavished on her for approximately 10 long years!

Martha Coelho was born in 1924 in Karachi (undivided India).  At the age of 18, she married our father Patrick at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Karachi.  Their union was blessed by Archbishop Alcuin Von Miltenburg  of Karachi.  They made their home in Bombay where Patrick Coelho resided.

She is survived by her children, Horace and his wife Rita (Fonseca), Kevin and his wife, Judy (Castellino) Derek, Francis and his wife Vivienne (Alvares) and Patricia (late Quentin Coelho).

She is also survived by her grand children, Dr. Chantal (Anthony Sena), Craig and Carl. Dr. Marisa Coelho (Jeffrey Derman) Dr. Ramona Coelho (Dr. Philippe Violette) and Kareena Coelho. Christopher Coelho (Virginia Cowherd) and Sarah Coelho. Jason Coelho and Raquel and Shauna Coelho.

She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Carmine and Ariana, Sena, Kateri and Andrew Derman, Isabelle, Madeleine and Kevin (junior).

The wake will take place tentatively in Kitchener, Ontario on Friday, November 15th from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9pm.

The funeral will take place on Saturday November 16th at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Waterloo, Ontario at 10am.

Martha Coelho will be buried beside her beloved husband, Patrick who passed on in 1993. The cemetery is also in Waterloo, Ontario.  (Kitchener-Waterloo are twin towns an hour and a half drive from Toronto).
