Leo D'Souza (79), popularly known as Liyab, Konkani poet and writer, resident of Kandettu, Bikkarnakatte, Bendore, husband of Mary, father of Judy / Joy, Sunita / Vinay, Sandeep / Joanne and Fr Sudhir, grandfather of Jovita, Joel, Richa, Rhea, Nathan and Nathalie, brother of the late Carmine, the late Jerome, the late Fredrick, Bishop Patrick D'Souza, Emiretus Bishop of Varanasi, the late Joseph and Margaret Tauro, brother in law of Fr Franklin Menezes, Calcutta Diocese, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2013 in Bangalore.

Funeral will be held on Thursday, October 17 at St Sebastian Church, Bendore, Mangalore. Public viewing starts at 3 pm. Mass at 3:30 pm.

'Puta Patin Ye' was the novel that we used to read from 'The Raknno' every night after the evening Rosary and the Bible reading. I was in class II or III at that time.(About 47 years ago) We had made a good collection of the stories and novels that were being published in The Raknno every week. Liyab's stories,poems and novels always had a very special taste for reading. Now his life itself has become an unforgettable story, a novel and a song.
