Sr M Cresentia BS, a member of Holy Family Convent, Nirkan, passed away on August 25th morning  at 4.10 at L.M.Pinto Health Centre, Badyar at 76th year of her  Religious life, as the Sisters of her community and those of Badyar were watching and praying. Sr Crescentia   enjoyed good health all through her life.  Of late with a little physical indisposition she was hospitalized  for a short time.

Sr Cresentia, nee Maria Angelica Carmine Mendonca born on 25.02.1910, to late Francisco Dionizio Mendonca and Carlota Epiphania Mascarenhas of Aldona, Goa, was fully integrated in Karnataka living her consecrated life joyfully doing the humble service of home mangement with equal commitment. She joined the Bethany Congregation in 1934 at the age of 24 after her primary education in Portugese medium and was professed in 1936. She has served in communities of Rosa Mystica at Kinnikambla, Meppady in Wayanad-Kerala, Bethany at Bendur, Kinnigloy, Balkunje, Kanajar, Dharwad, Sampaje, Kowdur and Nirkan.

Her life was a source of inspiration to the Sisters and the people of the parish wherever she was placed. Holy Family, Nirkan being the last community of her sojourn where she spent 28 years, made the parish community with its pastors her own. Thus she became a ‘mother’ to everyone. Her birth centenary was celebrated by the parishioners of Nirkan in  2010 with much grandeur.  She was also honoured as one of the Centenarians at Rosario Cathedral on the occasion of the Post Centenary Siver Jubilee celebration of the Diocese.

While commending the soul of our dear Sister to her Maker I request your prayers that our dear Lord may grant her eternal rest.
