Mother Ernestine D'Almeida (90) (Ex-Superior General of Ursuline Franciscan Congregation-from 1968-80)

Passed away on Wednesday 28-03-2012. Mortal Remains will be brought to Holy Rosary Convent, Jeppu at 9 a.m.and Funeral Mass will commence at 11 a.m. on Thursday 29-03-2012.

During her tenure of 12 years, she had worked earnestly for the betterment of the congregation and started new missions in remote areas in Karnataka, North, North-East India.
The Sisters of Ursuline Franciscan Congregation are greatly indebted to her for her compassion, affection, care and concern extended towards every member of the congregation and those came in contact.
Her life witness, specially her deep faith and love for mission will be remembered always.

May her soul rest in peace.

Mother Ernestine taught me in Bijai school where I was studying. She was a humble lady, always ready to help the poor (that was her mission) and a good soul. Mother Ernestine, I can say, was was a living saint. May her soul rest in peace.

The Ursuline Franciscan Sisters of North East Province pay a rich tribute of love and gratitude to our beloved Mother Earnestin. it was she who took the initiative to start missions in North East and sent the Sisters to Nagaland and Mizoram. This mission here which is grown tremendously owes her much. We emulate her great virtues of deep faith and simplicity of life and perseverence in adverse situations. May her soul rest in peace
