Puis Gregory D'Souza (76), son of the late Gratian D'Souza, husband of Winifred D'Souza, father of Arun D'Souza and Rashmi D'Souza, passed away on Wednesday February 29.

Born on November 17, 1936, P G D'Souza was an officer on special duty to chief opposition whip MLA Abhayachandra Jain.

He had been in Karnataka government service for the past 40 years, serving a number of state ministers in the capacity of personal assistant or private secretary. Beginning in 1972 with Shankar Alva, P G D'Souza went on to serve political leaders like M Veerappa Moily, M Y Ghorpade, R V Deshpande, M C Nanaiah, former chief minister Ramakrishna Hegde and many others, irrespective of the government in power.

He was also an active member of Konkani Catholic Association of Bangalore (KonCAB) and Kanara Catholic Association (KCA).

He was residing at #450, Ist Cross, 9th Main, off 80 ft Road, HAL IIIrd Stage, Bangalore - 75.

Funeral service will be held at Resurrection Church on 80 ft Road, Indiranagar, Bangalore on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 3 pm.

I was aghast to hear shocking news. Mr. Pius was very amiable gentleman. Down to earth, humble to the core. While talking to him no hint could be got about his closeness to the powers that be. I convey to the family my deepest sympathies. I pray the lord almighty to grant them strength to bear this untimely loss.

Dear Winnie Aunty, Arun and Rashmi,

Its really hard to lose someone so suddenly this way... without a chance of saying goodbye... I definitely can relate to how you must be feeling... Bauji uncle will be missed for sure and i will always remember what a jovial and good humoured guy he was... He would always help when needed... a true gem...

Now comes the real struggle of having to bear the loss and all I can say is... cry as much as u want to, talk about him as much as you can.... and be with people who can give you that support that is so crucial for you.... Look after each other for Aunty really needs the support of her kids right now....

And live each day in his memory... For they are not far away... and you should believe that they are there by our side... to support and help us in every walk of life....
