Mumbai, Nov 13: Antony Manuel Lobo better known as Ligori Lobo Kinnigoli (79), a well known Konkani Writer, popular for his political and analytical articles died today afternoon in Mumbai . He breathed his last at Life Care Hospital, Mumbai.

Ligory Lobo was a resident of Mira Road in Mumbai for the last one decade. Ligory had recently participated as a guest during the inauguration of the new Konkani organization “Reach – Konkani Purvazanchem Daiz” and also a DVD release programme held in the city as a tribute to legendary Konkani singer Jerome D Souza and his sudden death has been a shocker to all those who knew him.

Funeral will leave residence C-209,SHREE SAPHALYA MIRA ROAD East for St. Josephs Church, Mira Road, on Monday, November 14 at 3.30 pm, with a Mass to follow at 4 pm.

I could not attend the funeral of Ligory Lobo as I was in Miyar/Karkala at the time. My mother-in-law Sobina Santhmayor was expired on 12.11.11 and her funeral was fixed for 14.11.11. Ligory Lobo was our family friend. It was our practice to visit his home at Bandra for lunch after Bandra Fair. As rightly pointed our by senior jounalist Felix A D'Souza, Ligory Lobo was a dedicated, good and non-controversial writer. May his soul rest in peace.

We had the good fortune to know Shree Ligory Lobo and he was our guide while we prepared for Jerome Nite early this year.The last time we met was for the release of the Jerome Nite DVD on 8th Sept @ St.Joseph Church, Mira road and the first person to recieve a copy of the DVD.He always had a word of encouragement for us and star in the Konkani Literary circle.We the members of Shree Jerome D'Souza Music Foundation will really miss him.Peace be with you Ligory Uncle.

Ligoury Lobo started contributing to POINNARI sometime after 1955. He joined Poinnari's anti-dowry movement and devoted his time for its success. A dedicated, good and non-controversial writer, whose language could be understood by everyone. After losing his wife and son, while living in Bandra, his health was not too good. He will be remembered for a long time by all who know him. May his soul rest in peace. Our heartfelt sympathies to his son and family.

Ligoury was actively associated with Poinnari in mid-fifties when Chafra was appointed its Editor, succeeding VJP. He took part in its Anti-dowry activities and was an ardent Konkani worker. He lost his wife and son while residing at Bandra. His contribution to Konkani weeklies was immense. May his soul rest in peace. My heartfelt condolence to his son, daughter-in-law & family.
