Fr Paul Gregory D’Cunha (78), Shimoga Diocese, son of the late Denis and Mary D’Cunha (Gurpur, Kinnikambla), brother of the late Fr Stany D’Cunha (Karwar Diocese), the late Nathalia Mascarenhas, the late Pauline, Sr Ellen Bethany, Francis D’Cunha (HM, Padua High school) and Andrew L D’Cunha (Konkani Poet and Writer), passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2020.

Fr Paul D'Cunha served as the assistant parish priest of Sacred Heart Cathedral, Shimoga, parish priest at Tarikere, Karehalli and Lakkavalli mission stations, parish priest of Sagar with mission stations of Talguppa, Anandpura, Soraba and Shikaripura, parish priest of Bhadravathi old town, Thirthahalli, Chitradurga, Nagara, and Anandapura, and the Director of Villa Vianney, Hiriyur-Bhadravathi.

The mortal remains of the dear departed will be brought to the Cathedral in Shimoga at 10:15 am on Monday, October 5, and the funeral mass will begin at 11 am followed by the burial service in the Priests' Cemetery.

Condolences to D'Cunha family & Diocese of Shimoga. I succeeded him at Tarikere in 1980. We were very close friends when he was in Sagar & we (Fr Jerome Machado & myself) in Soraba. After leaving for Madagascar in 1985, I didn't have much contact with him. He did a lot in Tarikere specially to get the land and build houses for the Tamil immigrants in Karehalli which is a parish now. He loved the people in the parishes he worked. R.I.P
