All the complimentary terms have been used up above as I waited for my computer to wake up from its mourning silence. Ericbab was an engaging conversationist with a touch of humour. But, he never imposed his legal conquests in his conversation.
But, I will record a rare exception. One person, with limited touch with English language, approached him to arrange for an affidavit to be signed in the presence of a legal official. The system of taking prior appointment was yet to come.
Ericbab took the person with a gentle warning: “ We do not have an appointment and are taking a chance. Keep your fingers crossed.” Ericbab’s client’s name was called to the official’s table with the page to be signed kept ready. This person, instead of signing, kept fiddling with his fingers. While asked to go ahead with signing, he said: “I can’t keep my fingers crossed” even while attempting to cross his fingers like a crab in motion.
PS. As for condolences, I, only brother-in-law resident in town, had the privilege of joining the family in the final journey of dear Erikbab and condoling in person.

He was endowed with rare skill of drafting the pleadings.I used to relish reading them many times. His command over English was envying. I also know that he was interested in apiculture. We used to discuss ecclesiastical matters. He had thorough understanding & knowledge of Bible.
I lost permanently a good friend, philosopher & guide.
I will cherish his memories of dear Eric for long time to come. We rarely come across such genuine persons.
Our consolation & solace to his family members. He left us forever. RIP.

'In remembrance of the transient existence in the infinity of time' - that is what Eric had got inscribed on the tombstone of his parents, and today he was laid to rest with them. He made it known to us that what matters is not a quantitative life, but a qualitative one and from all your wishes there is no doubt that he put his principles to practice.
We are overwhelmed by the kind words, support and love extended to us by all of you in our time of grief.
Eric, most of all was a good son, a loving brother, a wonderful husband, an amazing father and a doting grandfather. We could not ask for more.
We will sorely miss him and nothing can replace what he was to all of us. We are glad to have had him as ours in our 'transient existence in the infinity of time'.
We pray that God in His mercy take him in his fold of angels and grant him the peace that he rightly deserves.
