Monica Pinto nee D’Souza (78), former HM - St John's School, Cascia and former HM - St Lawrence English Medium School, Bondel, wife of the late Boniface Pinto, mother of Laveena / Simon Norbert D’Cunha (Dubai), Anil Joy / Nirmala and Prajwal / Santhosh Mathias (Bangalore), grandmother of Priyanna, Ashlene, Ria, and Neoma, passed away on July 25, 2019.

Mortal remains will be brought to residence on Saturday, July 27 at 12.30 pm. Funeral cortege will leave residence at 2.30 pm for St Lawrence Church, Bondel, Mangalore, followed by Mass at 3.00 pm.

Modorn was a member of the Miranda family by love. From making Jackfruit papads and kuswar together every year, to every major decision made in the family, and being the godmother of my elder brother, she was with us through it all. She was our pillar of strength in our joys and sorrows, and we couldn't be more grateful for her loving advice, prayers and kindness. For many of my academic queries, Modorn was the default powerhouse of knowledge, strength and love. She was my inspiration in my teaching career as well.
The loss of her soul from this earth leaves a massive void in our lives. We will always celebrate her life in our daily interactions and pray for her soul.

Very saddened on hearing the passing away of one of the respected teachers of our city.

I recall the good memories of my association with her in together as a team to deliver talks, in group discussions and seminars while she was focusing the good family life, myself on the role of youth in family responsibilities and contribution to our Catholic Church along with Mrs. Judy, another well respected teacher who used to speak on the role of working women, the family and the church.

Monica Teacher is one of our favorite one. she is Head Teacher in Cascia High School. when we are studying 1 to 7 Standard. i still remember in School Assembly. she said going two day visit to USA and see gave beautiful talk. all students started crying for teacher because we don't. want to miss one day.

she is always keeping small bamboo stick. but she never used against naughty student like me.
weekly once she calls me in cabin and giving me a lecture about study and future life.
in one word she is less teacher and more like mother.
we never forget her because of beautiful words and face.

Today we are her with good job and family members that is because of you.

May Monica teacher rest in peace and may the bereaved family be consoled.
I had a couple of brief interactions with Monica teacher and I could see and feel that she was more of a teacher than HM of two leading schools. She carried her HM-ships lightly on her delicate shoulders. She remained a teacher and HM much beyond the normal age of retirement and had the privilege of moving into a brand new and impressive school building and handing over charge to the young and fresh HM – Fr Clifford.
